Who We Are
Colorado Backcountry Rentals is an unguided snowmobile/ATV/Side by Side rental operation in the Vail Pass Recreation Area based in the town of Red Cliff, eight miles from Minturn. Both Red Cliff and Minturn are just minutes from Beaver Creek, Vail and a short drive from the Summit County area of Colorado. We pride ourselves in providing an excellent and friendly snowmobiling/ATV experience.
At CBR, we can accommodate all types of riding abilities by choosing from trail machines or high performance machines. High performance snowmobiles seat one person each. The snowmobiles that can have one or two people on them are more suited to stay on the trail.
ATV's can be single rider or double rider. We have two person, four person, and six person Side by Sides.
Many of our guests like to get the side by sides which have seat belts. Because Side by Side's have seat belts they can be used for young people, and if you bring your own car seat that works with a standard seat belt that can make for a more comfortable ride for young people.
All rentals include helmet and gas. Come to our check-in office, conveniently located at the trail head and just minutes from riding unguided through the back country of the Colorado Rockies!
What People Are Saying
"We booked a snowmobile trip with CBR over spring break. Chuck was super nice to my wife and I. My 13 and 8 year old loved it. He even took time to help us with points of interest he would recommend on our way to Durango to see family. They provide the gear you need plus maps etc. Vail pass and shrine pass were absolutely beautiful. They are a great business and loved hearing his story. He took time to meet us at the end of our trip as we didn't see him on our way out. Highlight of our trip and will return for more fun. Bring a backpack with water and food!! We did but trying to help out those who may overlook it. Also may be common sense but follow their instruction on staying on trails and well ridden on meadows and pass areas, (there are plenty). We saw some folks stuck way off the trail. Snow is deep and inexperience will get the best of you. Thanks again Chuck and Mike."Jane D.
"Your choice, to cruise or to rip. They give you the choice of the machine you will be riding for the day or half day. Either a cruiser or a high performance rocket. They give you the safety tour and show you how to use the machine. They give you a map and an overview of the possible terrain you can cover. Then they cut you loose and tell you to have fun. Then you choose how you want the day to unfold. I chose the 600cc Polaris. I recommend paying the extra for the better machines. You won't be disappointed!"Donald D.
